We built Atelier because we needed it ourselves
Marina and I started building Atelier to solve a problem from our own design work: keeping the same project information up to date in too many places.
After six months of building, Marina Orekhova and I are opening Atelier to everyone.
We’re interior designers, and Atelier started with something familiar from our own work: entering the same information again and again.
A chair goes into a presentation. Its dimensions and finish go into a specification. Its price goes into a proposal. Then something changes, and each version needs updating.
We wanted to spend less time moving those details between programs. We went looking for a tool that could help us put presentations together, maintain product schedules and handle the paperwork around a project. We also wanted to see how much of that repetitive work we could hand over to AI.
We couldn’t find what we had in mind, so we started building it.
Atelier is AI-powered project and studio management software for independent interior designers and design studios. It connects product sourcing, visual pinboards, furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) schedules, and client approvals in one workspace.
Where we started
In conversations with other designers, we kept hearing about the same difficulties. Everyone had ways of keeping things organized: spreadsheets, templates, folders. But keeping them current still took a lot of manual work.
And copying information carries a cost beyond the time it takes. An old price or an incorrect quantity can travel from one document into the next. Someone has to catch it.
That gave us a starting point for Atelier: keep the information connected as a project moves forward.
From a pinboard to an FF&E schedule
Say you find a sofa on a vendor’s website. You paste its link into an Atelier pinboard, which captures the available product details. You arrange the presentation and send your client a link to review it. They can comment on individual selections and approve or reject them.
Once the selection is approved, you can bring it into your FF&E schedule, with its image, source and specifications. You don’t have to enter the sofa all over again.
Atelier also brings together time tracking, procurement, proposals and invoices. The idea is to let the information you’ve already gathered keep being useful throughout the project.
For us, AI belongs in that everyday work: capturing product details and helping prepare project information, while we keep making the design decisions.
Now we’d love you to try it
This is our first public release. We want to hear what happens when you use Atelier for your own projects: what helps, what’s missing, and what still takes too many steps.
You can create your studio and try it free for 14 days, without a credit card.
Or write to us at hello@getatelier.design. Marina and I read and respond to the messages ourselves.
